Michael Ellis is a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney with an MBA from Imperial College London. His technical background is chemistry.
Michael can advise on a range of IP issues, including patentability, patent drafting, infringement clearance, TM and design registration and exploitation. His areas of technical expertise include chemistry, pharmaceuticals, new materials and renewable energy systems.

Elizabeth Vokurka - Associate
Beth joined Ellis IP as an associate in delivering the Intellectual Assets Centre contract awarded to Ellis IP in October 2007.
Beth's background is in physics having completed a PhD in particle physics at CERN in Geneva and the University of Manchester. Beth's specialism is in assisting with funding and intellectual asset management, especially in the fields of IT, software and medical imaging.
Beth also operates through her own firm, IP Innovation (www.ip-innovation.co.uk), which provides technology based companies, primarily in the hi-tech, software and IT sectors, with broad based advice on managing their IP capture and exploitation, IP policy and development and infringement risk reviews as well as providing technical due diligence for projects and assistance with obtaining financial support through publicly available grants or via angel or VC investors.
Sheila Chapman - Associate
Sheila is a Registered Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney and Registered Trade Mark Attorney. Sheila joined Ellis IP as an associate in order to deliver the services of the Intellectual Assets Centre contract.
Sheila's background is in physics, electronics and software. She has several years experience within private practice in England and Scotland and was lead IP counsel for optronics firm Kymata Ltd.
Lorne Byatt
Lorne has recently joined Ellis IP as an associate to assist with the delivery of the Intellectual Assets Centre services.
Lorne is an IP lawyer with strong sector experience in relation to Software, Medical Devices, and Renewable Energy/Energy Efficiency. Lorne has worked as in-house lawyer for Acorn Computers (hardware, software, IT), Atlantic Drilling (engineering, energy) and Voxar (medical imaging, software) and has extensive experience in private practice with three highly regarded Edinburgh law firms.
Lorne's particular focus is in assisting with IP commercialisation, especially in the renewable and sustainable energy technology, medical device and software fields. As well as operating as an associate with Ellis IP, Lorne continues to develop his IP Commercialisation activities as IP Angles (www.ip-angles.com).
